March 19th - The Next Global Day of Action

Friday, March 19th has been chosen for the next Global Day of Action and we are planning actions that are safe to do during a Global Pandemic. See below for more information.

We are still in Level 5 of Covid-19 restrictions and are being asked to stay at home to protect ourselves and others in our community. The Climate Crisis, however, is as much of a problem as ever and we are still fighting for Climate Justice. Take part in these actions to help raise awareness and get involved with the fight for fair and equal Climate Action!

Kilometres for Climate

The ‘Kilometres for Climate’ challenge urges people to get out and about in nature, pick up at least 5 pieces of litter and to nominate five friends to do the same.

How do I take part?

  • Go for a run, walk or cycle, within your 5km radius

  • Take a picture of yourself or of the nature you see outside

  • Post the photo on Instagram with #KilometresForClimate, tagging the 5 friends you nominate to take on the challenge as well as @fridaysforfuturedublin

  • Make sure you pick up five pieces of litter too!

The Climate Crisis isn’t going away and we must continue to protect and appreciate our planet. We urge you to spread the word and get involved in any way you can!

Strike With Fridays For Future From Home

We can't get out onto the streets at the moment because we want to protect ourselves, our families and the rest of our communities. We are encouraging EVERYONE to strike from home on Friday, March 19th.

How do I take part?

  • Make your protest sign. Have you have gotten any packages in the post this lockdown? Make use of your old cardboard to make your strike poster

  • Post a picture of your strike poster to your social media and tag us @fridaysforfuturedublin

  • Hang your poster in your window for passers-by to see!

Through this action, we are aiming to remind everybody that even though we are all apart, we are still coming together to fight the Climate Crisis. In a time like this, actions speak louder than words and we want to empower everyone - young and old - by doing this collective action.

Why not get creative, put posters in your car (safely), in your office window, change your phone/computer background and lots more. Be sure to send all of your creative ideas to us via our email or to us on social media!
